The Breath – live dates go on

The Breath

Despite the government’s announcement of continuing restrictions and social distancing measures until July 19th, The Breath are delighted to announce their July shows will go on!

The alt-folk duo – guitar whiz Stuart McCallum and Irish singer/flautist, Ríoghnach Connolly – are excited to be performing once again to in-the-flesh audiences with four dates in July, culminating in sold out shows at Kings Place, London, before embarking on further summer shows.

Based in Manchester, the singer-songwriter duo are renowned for their live performances driven by Ríoghnach’s extraordinary, jaw-dropping voice and powerful storytelling that is honest, stirring and deeply personal, yet with more than a hint of humour.  With Sturt’s understated brilliance and perfectly measured guitar they perform stripped bare in an acoustic setting allowing the emotional depth of their performances to shine through.  Yet it is the remarkable connection they share with their audience that makes The Breath’s live performance so compelling.

For their 2021 shows, The Breath perform a career-spanning set of their exquisitely crafted songs that journey from beguiling ditties to punch-the-air anthems alongside brand-new music.  In May 2021, The Breath release two songs – Something on Your Mind’ and ‘Remembering Mountains’ that celebrates the 50th anniversary of 60’s folk singer Karen Dalton’s final studio album In My Own Time.

Their set follows their 2019 BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nomination for Best Duo/Group and Ríoghnach’s award for Folk Singer of The Year.
