John Alexander’s new album is on the way

John Alexander

Scottish songwriter and guitarist John Alexander brings together the latest instalment of dustbowl blues with the release of his new album Face The Wind. This collection of life and weather beaten tales follows on from his previous release Of These Lands.

Alexander’s songs have been honed through his solo acoustic performances and formed the basis for live performances that included a successful run of sell out shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the aptly titled “Dustbowl Blues with a Glasgow Kick”. His songs have been successful in obtaining placements on the US television shows The Lizzie Borden Chronicles and also the hit Netflix show Longmire as well as placements in cult feature film Tremors. Life in his native country as well as experiences of living overseas and travel form much of the inspiration behind his songs.

Alexander’s influences include John Martyn, Greg Brown, Bob Dylan and Muddy Waters which are revealed in his soulful lyrics, strong guitar work and storytelling skills. Face The Wind was produced by Boo Hewerdine and record and mixed at Saltwell Studios in Cambridgeshire by Chris Pepper. The album features a number of guest musicians, including both Boo Hewerdine and Chris Pepper along with Iona MacDonald (Doghouse Roses) on backing vocals and Neil Warden on lap steel guitar.
