Slambovian Circus Of Dreams announce new album and tour dates

Slambovian Circus Of Dreams

Formed in Sleepy Hollow, New York, in 1998, The Slambovian Circus Of Dreams have played major festivals and venues throughout the US, UK and Canada. Their mix of folk, rock, psychedelia and touch of hillbilly has won them legions of followers through their hectic touring and 6 studio albums. The band hit the road in the US this February in support of their new release A Very Unusual Head sees the band return to the UK in August of 2022 headlining the Wickham Festival and Fairport Convention’s legendary Cropredy Festival along with further UK dates

A Very Unusual Head is the Slambovian Circus of Dreams’ sixth studio album, released on their new label, Storm King Records. Together since 1998, the album features the trio of founding members Joziah Longo (songwriter, lead singer, guitarist), Tink Lloyd (accordion, cello, flute, ukulele, theremin, keyboards), Sharkey McEwen (guitar, mandolin) and a gang of their favourite musicians.

Recorded over the last four years in five studios, A Very Unusual Head is a step away from the guitar-based Americana tilt of their previous releases. Opening their creative tent to musician friends in their New York ‘neighbourhood’ makes for a sonically beautiful and adventurous album.

Guest artists include: Dar Williams*, Anthony Thistlethwaite* (The Waterboys), Kolson Pickard* (Tall Heights, Pico Romanesque), drummer Felipe Torres (protegé of Carmine Appice, sideman for Davey Jones, The Monkees), drummer Matt Abourezk (formerly of Thin White Rope) and major contributions by brilliant newcomer Tristan Tadin on keyboards throughout. Canadian engineer Dio Tadin recorded the bulk of the album on a former reindeer farm near Peterborough, Ontario and at “Big Blue” in Cornwall, New York. (Tadin cut his engineering teeth in Daniel Lanois’ studio in Hamilton, Ontario).

*Dar Williams appears on “Brilliantly, Brilliantly, Dumb” (featured vocal, bg vocals)*Anthony Thistlethwaite appears on “Fi” (sax, bass), “Brilliantly, Brilliantly Dumb”(sax and mandolin)*Kolson Pickard (cornet, bg vocals) “Beez”, “Fi”,”Halo”, “The Neverwas”, “Absolutely Beautiful Freakin’ Day”

Inspired by the Surrealists and early British Psychedelia and paths they pioneered. The songs on the album deal with topics ranging from the pseudo-scientific to the pseudo-religious realms and other forms of hob-nobbery for fun and profit.
