Wolf & Clover announce second album and launch concert

Wolf & Clover

Wolf & Clover is excited to announce the completion of their long-awaited second album, twelvemonth and a day, to be released Tuesday, February 1st  2022. The release will be accompanied by a concert on March 17th 2022 at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. Legacy Hall, one of the finest concert halls in the southeast of the United States, will play host to the event, which is sponsored by the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University.

Three years following the band’s 2018 self-titled release, twelvemonth builds on the innovative, passionate sound of Wolf & Clover, and the new album is sure to extend the group’s reach beyond the hundreds of thousands of Spotify listens, radio play in eight countries, and the praise the band garnered with 2018’s Wolf & Clover and the 2020 follow up, Live At The Silvan Sessions.

Jessica Bennett-French (violin) is a graduate of CSU’s Schwob School of Music and the Director of the Columbus Music Academy, where she leads the educational curriculum and manages a staff of some of the finest music teachers in the Chattahoochee Valley.

Julian Chalon (guitar, bass) is an Adjunct Professor and Music Production Specialist at the Schwob School and also works as an independent teacher, engineer, and producer.

Michelle DeBruyn (voice, piano) is Professor of Voice at the Schwob School of Music and a certified Yoga Instructor.

Matthew McCabe (banjo, bouzouki, button accordion, etc.) is Professor of Audio Technology at the CSU Schwob School of Music and is a passionate student and advocate of the Irish language.

Caroline Richards (accordion, piano) is a recent percussion Masters graduate of Schwob and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Music at the University of Texas at Austin.

Chris Walton (whistles) is the Interim Executive Director of the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus and plays trumpet as a member of the Army National Guard.

“We experiment with traditional material, looking for interesting musical elements and opportunities to capitalize on and push the boundaries of the traditional Celtic style.” – Matthew McCabe

The focus of twelvemonth and a day is new compositions, combined with the influence of the centuries-old traditions of Celtic music. W&C’s interpretations of recently composed material by Niall Vallely, Simon Ager, Patrick Orçeau, Michael Duggar, PJ Monserrat, and other globally-recognized composers of Celtic music are sure to solidify the band’s contribution to the repertoire. The album will be available on all major digital platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music.

THE CONCERT

A free album release concert will be held in Columbus State University’s (CSU) Legacy Hall on St. Patrick’s Day – Thursday, March 17th 2022, at 7:30pm. In addition to the live performance, the concert will also be live streamed on the Schwob School of Music Facebook and YouTube channels and presented on Irish Music Magazine’s social media outlets.

The concert is sure to excite with selections from twelvemonth and a day, their 2018 self-titled album, and other favourites of the band. Concert attendees can expect modern interpretations of traditional material including Irish tune sets, and special renditions of popular songs, and original arrangements created by the band.

Concertgoers should arrive early – W&C’s 2018 CD release concert was the highest attended concert in the history of Legacy Hall, and many attendees were turned away at the door due to the seating capacity. Also note that as of this writing, the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts requires concert attendees to wear a mask while inside the building. Wolf & Clover also encourages all attendees to mindfully engage in healthy practices such as masking, vaccination, booster shots, social distancing, and sanitizing to protect themselves and others.
