Irish Music & Dance in London: A Tribute to Joe Burke

Joe Burke

With Anne Conroy-Burke, Eileen O’Brien, Mary Conroy, Deirdre McSherry, John Bowe, Mick O´Connor, Andy Martyn and Seánín McDonagh (accordion) & James Carty (fiddle) with accompaniment by Kevin Boyle.

IMDL is proud to present a concert to celebrate the life and legacy of one of the most influential musicians in the history of Irish music, Galway’s own Joe Burke who sadly passed away in 2021. Through a long history of iconic recordings, memorable performances all over the world from 1955, the sharing of a remarkable knowledge of the history of the music, his collections of the past masters, donations of unique materials to the Irish Traditional Music Archive and handing down the music through teaching the next generations, Joe Burke left an outstanding legacy to the global Irish traditional music community which may never be surpassed.

In this tribute concert Joe’s wife Anne Conroy-Burke (button accordion), Anne’s sister Mary Conroy (guitar) and two of their closest friends Eileen O’Brien (fiddle) and Deirdre McSherry (flute, piano) come to London to lead a musical tribute as the city which Joe had such a mutual love for rises in recognition of his life and music.

Wednesday 4th May 8pm, at Kings Place, London – Tickets £15 / £8.50
