Dream-Folk songwriter Chris Cleverley returns as you’ve never heard him before, with a collection of ambient acoustic Christmas songs and winter tour dates.
Three Counties songwriter Chris Cleverley is among a new wave of pioneering artists carving an uncharted path through the UK acoustic landscape. His latest album Broadcast The Secret Verse released to rave reviews with RnR Magazine calling it “A masterpiece – ★★★★” and Americana UK describing it as “One of the best albums of 2022 – 9/10”. Since then he has been steadily cementing his reputation as a cutting-edge songwriter and fingerstyle guitar master, with appearances at top UK festivals like Cambridge Folk Festival and the English Folk Expo.
This December, Cleverley releases In The Shadow Of John The Divine, taking its name from the iconic Manhattan Cathedral; his fifth studio record and first new music in two years.
In his characteristic style, this vibrant new body of work promises to flip the well-explored seasonal genre on its head, offering something genuinely fresh and innovative.

The record further develops his ambient acoustic production style, with echoes of American Indie Greats, Elliott Smith, Anais Mitchell and Sufjan Stevens, with guitar playing invoking Bert Jansch and Joni Mitchell. The result? A curious tapestry weaved from the hazy psychedelia of the 60s folk revival and the soulful oblivion of the 90s Pacific Northwest.
Fans of Cleverley’s unique brand of Indie-Folk can hear the new material for the first time during his eight date solo Winter tour, including co-headline shows with Tobias Ben Jacob & Awake Mother, as well as a rare Full Band Album Launch in his hometown of Birmingham, featuring an array of special guests including BBC Folk Award winner Sam Kelly and rising Americana duo Awake Mother.
