Vanessa Anne Redd announces solo debut

Vanessa Anne Redd

Vanessa Anne Redd (of folk duo Six Years and electro band Rubicks) is releasing her first solo album Behind The Wall on 7 October, via Sharp Attack Records.

Vanessa describes the album as “simple grunge-folk”. It is a more pastural affair than her previous incarnations, inspired by the work of artists such as Syd Barrettt, Holly Go-Lightly, Nico, Elliot Smith, Leonard Cohen and John Lennon. A languorous record, sweet yet tough, with strings, droning guitars, piano, percussion and soothing, ebbing harmonies.

Two teasers from the album have been released so far, title track ‘Behind The Wall’ and ‘Invisible Strings’, the former has been described as sounding like  “PJ Harvey’s imperial phase” (Clash) and the latter as “Leonard Cohen-esque” (FAME Magazine) which shows the spectrum of the record.
