The Destroyers announce new album

To celebrate 20 years of continuous voyage through clubs and festivals in the UK and beyond, The Destroyers have captured a snapshot of their latest adventures on their epic journey. Recording all twelve musicians live, Argonaut creates the frenzied fervour of a live show, inviting the listener to embark with them on an extraordinary musical expedition through a collection of original songs and tunes, plus traditional melodies. Tunesmiths who inhabit a world where all tongues speak as one, come wielding fiddles and flutes, trumpets, clarinets and accordions; driven by a backline of boundless rhythmic energy, they create music that is both unique and colossal in nature.

The Destroyers are a band of Birmingham’s finest musical champions, who audaciously collide genres to truly stunning effect, creating a festival of sound that hides its sophistication in its raw and direct hit to the senses, lifting up the listener as if in the hands of a giant.

Starting from humble beginnings in Balsall Heath, The Destroyers were literally born underground in basement jam sessions, bringing Eastern European folk and Balkan brass to meet all forms of music in a way that was unpretentious and fun. Since then, the band has grown through many phases of life, taking on countless challenges and achievements, finding a life and legend of its own. Much like the ship of Theseus, some members have left and new members joined, but the heart and the quest remain.

These tenacious, travelling troubadours have liberated ears, hearts, and minds at Glastonbury | WOMAD | Boomtown Fair Secret Garden Party | Fire in the Mountain Shambala | Cambridge Folk Festival Gate to Southwell | Underneath the Stars Nozstock Hidden Valley | Knockengorroch Sidmouth Folk Week | Buskers Bern (SW) Penabilli (IT) | Waterford Spraoi (IE), and many, many more.

They were featured opening the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games and have appeared on BBC 1, Sky Arts TV, along with plays on BBC Radio 2, 3, and 6 Music.
