Acclaimed London / Aarhus alt-pop-folk band The Little Unsaid return with their new album for Reveal Records Lick The Future’s Lips on July 9th.

The album’s songs revolve around a sense of impermanence. The idea that all things are in a constant state of flux, and how vivid and alive everything seems when we embrace this and let go of our need to pin things down. The songs were written during a time of global crisis, but songwriter John Elliott wanted to push against his own typical response (which in the past has been to ‘retreat, hide under a blanket and indulge in the darkness’). Whilst the struggles going on all around us are an inevitable presence in these songs, The Little Unsaid have captured a defiant thirst for life in all its twisted beauty with the new album.

A desire to get outside and dance and be in love and be grateful for the time we’ve got, even though some days it might look like the world is falling apart around us.

Recording with the band for one week at a studio in London Fields, we felt this euphoria of all being together making music for the first time after months of isolation. I hope you can hear that on the record, that feeling of gratitude and experimentation and playfulness. We listened to music together every morning and drank pretentious coffee as the morning sun shone in. We laughed and sang and talked openly about how tough this time has been for each of us in different ways. We left politics and The News at the door. We worked on the songs late into the nights and often lost the plot, recording radiators being whacked and cymbals being chucked around the room. I hope when people listen they might sense this music was made by five people lost to the task of trying to capture something positive and celebratory about this time we’re living through.

To coincide with the new release, Reveal Records are re-issuing the bands long out of print CD album catalogue including Fisher King, A Filthy Hunger, Dig For The Promise and Imagined Hymns & Chaingang Mantras which fans can order at Bandcamp as a four disc bundle whilst accessing two new songs from Lick The Future’s Lips: ‘Flux’ and ‘Bug In Amber’.

The Little Unsaid Lick The Future’s Lips UK Autumn Tour is now being added (see website for latest details).
