Moonrakers – line-up change and live dates

Moonrakers

Dear Friends,

It was so good to be out playing again – thanks again to the 270 people who made our Waterperry concert a very special occasion. We’ve published some videos on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/MoonrakersBand.

Some big changes afoot. Our lovely talented harpist, Eleanor Dunsdon, is leaving the band to take the next step in her career at Glasgow University where she’s embarking on a 2-year MA course in traditional music. She’s been with us for 5 years, so there will be tears! We will, of course, keep in touch and you might see a guest appearance from time to time. Her final concert with us will be at Childrey (see below). Bon voyage, Ellie xx

So we can now officially sound the trumpet for our new band member, harpist Becki Luff. She’s moved to Oxford recently and is a fabulous inventive musician who we’re thrilled to have on board. She’s been working like crazy with Ellie to get up to speed on the repertoire and will be making her debut at Poulton in October.

So here are the change-over gigs: the first with Ellie, the second with Becki.

17 September    CHILDREY, Oxon, OX12 9PQ.  A return to this lovely village. This time playing in the church (St Mary’s) on the Friday evening at 7:30pm.  £12.50   Tickets and information: stmaryschildreypcc@gmail.com 01235 751078

If either you, or someone you know, are musicians, you might like to consider coming to one of our Folk Orchestra courses that we run throughout the year. These are for intermediate levels musicians interested in playing in an ensemble and arranging new and old tunes.
