Martyn Joseph launches his new album

Martyn JosephBy Joseph – folk legend explodes into town

North Norfolk gig goers are in for a rare treat when legendary singer-songwriter Martyn Joseph rides into town this week to launch his new album.

The man oft described as the “Welsh Springsteen” brings his unique blend of guitar mastery and socially aware songsmithery to Holt Community Centre on Friday, November 7.

Some 40 years after exploding on to the folk scene with a series of self-produced LPs that cemented a loyal following that has never left him, Martyn is still writing and gigging and is back on the road again for his latest UK tour to showcase his latest album ‘Troubled Horses’.

By way of a bonus, ‘Troubled Horses’ hits the streets and record shops on the day of the Holt gig and will be on sale at the show.

Forever vocal against all that is wrong in the world, Martyn’s current output is as passionate as ever, as demonstrated by last year’s acclaimed album ‘This Is What I Want To Say’.

That success coincided with Martyn being asked, for a second time, to write a song for BBC Radio 2’s 21st Century Folk project, following the success of his track ‘Albert’s Place’ which featured in the original series in 2023 and was showcased across the BBC.

Compared to the likes of Springsteen, John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews, Martyn has created a mesmerising style that is very much his own and is blessed with the rare ability to speak to the soul with his expressive and poignant lyrics in a career spanning more than 40 years, 27 studio albums, over a half a million record sales and thousands of live performances.

For it is live that Martyn is in his element, with his brilliant guitar dexterity only matched by the power and passion of his words, both in and out of song.

To have a musician and songwriter of the calibre of Martyn Joseph playing at Holt Community Centre is a real coup for the centre and the town and a sign that Holt is on the musical map.

Doors open 7pm and tickets are just £22 from https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/acoustic-promotions/t-lnlyjnj
