DeBarra’s Clonakilty announce new online series featuring over 20 eclectic acts including: Mary Coughlan, Niamh Regan, John Spillane, Craic Boi Mental, Elaine Malone & more…

DeBarra’s Folk Club are back hosting and producing world-class gigs with wonderful people in their venue at Clonakilty, West Cork.

Despite the challenges they faced this year and having to close their doors in March, DeBarra’s kept the show on the road with their intimate ‘Living Room to Living Room Sessions’, streaming from musicians couches across Ireland and further afield via DeBarra’s platforms. Offering an important connection to their community of musicians and music lovers far and wide during trying times.

Following a ‘sos beag’, the crew are back in the building, and ready to present a new online series…

Many of the participating acts were scheduled to play in DeBarras over the last eight months, but for obvious reasons these shows were unable to go ahead. Some of these musicians have performed at the venue since they were little. Some first played there thirty years ago. And three acts will make their DeBarra’s debut.

The line-up includes: DeBarras Spoken Word with Mose Jacobs, Paul McMahon & Dave Lordan, John Spillane Band w/ special guest Míde Houlihan, John Blek, Ten Past Seven, Eve Clague, The Vespertine Quintet, Elaine Malone band, Craic Boi Mental, Liam O’Maonlai, Mary Coughlan Trio, Dukkha, Sam Clague, Míde Houlihan, The Céilí All Stars, Camilla Grieshel & Niwel Tsumbu, and Niamh Regan.

Manager of DeBarra’s Ray Blackwell says “This initiative, part-funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht Sport and Media from the Live Performance Support Scheme, has given all of our team involved a massive boost in the current times.

Thanks to this funding we have all gained a little back and have begun to remember who we are and what we do. But it’s a temporary reprieve. Our industry is in danger and we don’t know what the new year holds.

For now, our technical teams are back working, photographers are back snapping, musicians are back strumming, plucking and bowing. Art and music is happening and we all have a shared purpose again.’’
