SO DO YOU FANCY A MUSIC WEEKEND AWAY IN THE BEAUTIFUL NEW FOREST?
THE NEW FOREST FOLK FESTIVAL REACHES ITS 13th YEAR 2 – 6 JULY 2025
The New Forest Folk Festival – is brill so what’s not to like?
In this ever more worrying and changing world we live in – it’s so nice, and equally very important to have some stability. Some familiarity a sort of ‘safe zone’ a place, an event or a gathering where you know there will be no changes, no dramas just a relaxing gathering. Somewhere to enjoys others company, with some wonderful music to boot…. and that’s not just the main stage acts – there’s so much more going on around the New Forest Folk Festival site.
That’s what’s lovely about The New Forest Folk Festival isn’t it surely?
I think so – I’ve been going to this delightful little festival for a number of years now and I love the familiarity of it, I like its style, its atmosphere and its friendliness.
It really is the little festival with the big names!
To quote a great song writer (Justin Sullivan) “Nothing changes round here very much” … and that’s what people love about the New Forest Folk Festival.
All the wheels just ’work’ it just ‘runs’ that’s all down to the brilliant Curtis family and the excellent team around them who organise this calm friendly laid back festival every year… so if you haven’t sampled this yet and you want a sense of ‘belonging’ a warm fuzzy welcoming feel then I can only suggest you get yourself some tickets and join the people in the know who know.. and me from folking.com at this years New Forest Folk Festival.
But don’t just take my word for it.. here I caught up with the lovely and probably busiest working multi instrumentalist… in the world ever – Marion Fleetwood
where we sing the festivals praises and get a little insight in to the ‘Marion Fleetwood world’ and what a delightful world that is….
I also got to talk to Tom Chapman of the stunning ‘Urban Folk Quartet’ otherwise known as UFQ to hear his views of this forthcoming summer season of music…..and the legend that is… Rod Clements from Lindisfarne…
Listen here…
Marion Fleetwood
Rod Clements – Lindisfarne
Tom Chapman – Urban Folk Quartet
