Kelly And Woolley announce debut album

Papers In My Shoe

This is the first release from Kelly and Woolley who are an acoustic duo who have been playing on the East Anglia live circuit for many years. Both musicians have been performing since their teens and draw on a wealth of influences. Multi-instrumentalist Matt Kelly has been playing Cajun, bluegrass and folk music for more than 30 years and guitarist / singer Gary Woolley draws on decades of playing songs from the English and North American folk / singer song writing tradition.

Their live performances take you on a journey from heart- felt English ballads to foot- stomping Cajun and Zydeco standards; they steadfastly refuse to be put in a musical category and the CD is all the better for it.

Papers In My Shoe has been carefully put together to show the breadth of their repertoire. The CD captures their live sound beautifully and includes some fine versions of Balfa Brothers classics and a moving rendition of ‘Jock O’ Hazeldean’ with a beautiful violin and viola accompaniment. To round off the collection there are two self-penned songs; one by each performer. The CD comes with a booklet that gives translations of the Cajun French songs.

For a couple of English guys they can certainly rip out some damn fine Cajun, Bluegrass and Country music with touches of English Folk Music for good measure (Folkwords)
