The Promise Of Spring Live is a first anniversary version of George Boomsma’s critically acclaimed The Promise Of Spring acoustic album, although this latest edition is a recorded live version. A raw edge album recorded at two prestigious venues – The Regal in Tenbury Wells and Camden Town’s Green Note. George’s band comprising of drummer Ally McDougal, Will Looms on electric guitar, and bass player Bart Debney-Davis who all bring a new dimension to the live album. Birmingham based North Yorkshireman George has redefined his first version of The Promise Of Spring from a folkie based edition of songs to full band sound, incorporating Geroge’s crystal clear vocals, stunning guitar work and his lovely way of engaging with his audience far and wide, with his thought-provoking lyrics.
The live album is as reflective and personal as the first version, but with the presence of the band, bringing a more dramatic effect with the music. The recordings live of this album show the listener he has a raw talent and his clear vocals ride over the top of the music.
George says “It’s been a whirlwind year, and taking these songs on the road with a live band has been nothing short of amazing. I’m thrilled with how the live album has turned out, and I’m already deep into planning the next tour with these incredible musicians”.
I saw George play in Kathryn Priddy’s band last year at Barnsley Festival – Underneath The Stars where he added a warmth and depth with his guitar playing and accompanying vocals.
A really lovely album that deserves to be heard.
