Kenilworth’s Song Club is a hit

Song Club

Keith Ayling’s event was a full house with all wanting more.

Launched on Sunday 20th November, Kenilworth artist and musician Keith Ayling’s Song Vlub featured two artists and himself performing for free and talking about the inspiration and perspiration behind songwriting.

The event drew a full house at Costa Coffee, Kenilworth with over 40 people – standing room only and an excellent reaction from the attendees who were both listening expectantly and eager with questions for the performers.

Kenilworth School student Joel Scott said of the event, “Song Club was a thoroughly enjoyable evening which consisted  of live acoustic performance and open discussion on songwriting and music. Whether you are interested in songwriting  or simply enjoy an evening of music, I highly recommend Song Club.”

A number of friends of Kenilworth School singer Sophie Lewis had come in support as it was only her second proper public performance with many songs fresh from the bedroom! She is now trying to complete enough to record next year.

Another attendee, Warwick University Student Jess Clark commented, The atmosphere was great, cool and cosy. And, as an aspiring songwriter myself, I found it very inspiring. Good times, good people, good coffee!”

Manchester’s Ortopilot who had chosen to come down from the north for a rare live performance played all original material in preparation for recording next year.

Organiser Keith Ayling said “It was great to have Ortopilot play. He has a huge internet following so it was good to see him in a live context and I know he enjoyed it. His willingness to travel for special gigs like this – and the number of local people that turned out to see all of the artists, shows that when presented in the right way, live original music still has a big place in people’s hearts. It’s something I want to nurture in Kenilworth.

I’m planning further Song Club nights for 2017 together with a few more surprises! If you’re a songwriter please get in touch.”
